Godello sobre Lías

12,90

This wine is made from grapes grown on small plots in the mountains of Valdeorras, in Ourense. It has been pumped over its own lees every week, giving it a greater aromatic intensity. New 2019 vintage now available.

No herbicides or glyphosate are used in the vineyards, as care for the environment and for people’s own health is one of the winery’s founding principles.

Clean and bright, straw yellow with greenish glints. Fruity (apple, melon, pear, peach), with hints of hay and flowers. A fresh wine with balanced acidity that confirms on the palate the fruit perceived on the nose, and a slight bitter note that gives it a length that invites another sip.

Description

Sampayolo Godello sobre Lías.

“Sampayolo Godello sobre Lías” is made from 100% Godello grapes grown on small mountain plots — a result of the smallholding pattern that prevails in Galicia — with no herbicides or glyphosate used in the vineyard treatments.

At harvest, the bunches are picked by hand into crates of around 20 kilos, and a second selection is carried out at the winery so that only perfectly healthy bunches at optimum ripeness go on to be vinified.

Fermentation in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with weekly pumping-over of its own lees to enhance the aromas, unctuousness and glycerol.

Clean and bright, straw yellow with greenish glints.

A fresh nose of remarkable aromatic intensity, where the fruit comes through first (water pear, apple, loquat and peach), followed by light herbaceous touches of hay and floral notes of gardenia, lily and nard.

A friendly entry on the palate: intense and mineral, with dense, persistent tears in the glass. A well-judged balance between acidity and alcohol. A strong finish with a slight bitter note that lets the palate enjoy the virtues of this single varietal for a long while.

The vines are between 10 and 35 years old and the grapes are selected by hand.
