Mencía Barrica

11,90

The vineyards in Valdeorras (Ourense) are mostly small plots, a legacy of Galicia’s smallholding tradition. Controlled fermentation in stainless steel followed by four months’ resting in oak achieves the right integration of fruit and wood.

No herbicides or glyphosate are used in the vineyards, as care for the environment and for people’s own health is one of the winery’s founding principles. New 2019 vintage now available.

Clean, bright cherry-red colour with purple rims; medium-high intensity, with aromas of red fruit (raspberry, wild strawberry) and floral notes such as roses and violets.

Broad and fresh on the palate, with a good mid-palate, sweet tannins, plenty of fruit and a long finish where those qualities return and invite you to keep drinking.

In short, a fresh wine — serious yet youthful, pleasant and cheerful.
