he Designation of Origen Valdeorras
is placed in a deep valley enclosed by
mountains over 1000 m altitude. Extend
it influence over the councils the O Barco,
O Bolo, Larouco, Petín, A Rúa,
Rubiá and Vilamartin, all of them
in the northeast of the province of Ourense.
His
land spreads over many miles to the north and to the south
of the river Sil. With the slate production, it is the main
source of incomes in this land. Over the whole landscape of
the countryside the stocks wines are growing up under the
careful attention of the wine growers.
Among the wines, we need
to distinguish the monovarietal (i.e single
varietals wines). Nevertheless wines make
with Godello and some varieties must be
excellent for example when is mixed with
Doña Blanca or Palomino.
As well, the Mencía red wine allows very good mixtures
with the traditional Alicante, Gran Negro and Mª Ardoña
Menenzao that grow as well in the wine yards of the D.O of
Valdeorras.
The single white wines make with Godello
are wines with a fine fruit fresh aroma,
white yellow or rosé colour, well
balanced and with a medium alcoholic gradation
of 11.5º to 12ª, delicate, complex
and good aftertaste.

The single red wines make with Mencía
are wines of a intense red purple coulour
and a elegant fruti aroma, light and tasty,
well balanced and with a very good length.
